Whoever enters the streets of the center discovers a town with very ancient origins, even Roman, whose conspicuous traces are documented and kept in the Museo della Regina, a building dating back to 1584, then erected as the "Pilgrims' Hospital". The various rooms into which it was divided included a dormitory with 10 beds for men and another for women, as well as the kitchen and an area that served as an inn. It maintained this function until 1839, when the building was adapted for the barracks of the pontifical carabinieri.
Transformed in 1931 to become the headquarters of the Carabinieri, it remained so until 2000, when, on the occasion of the Jubilee, it was restored. Today it houses the halls of the Museum, heir to the first Civic Museum of Cattolica, which was originally located in the Town Hall and, since 1984, in the Multipurpose Cultural Center.
